Tannic Acid is commonly used as a Reducer, as a mordant, In the preparation of the dry plates by the Tannin Process of Major Russell and Tannic acid toning of cyanotypes. Note: Tannic acid, a commercial form of tannin is not a true acid but an acid-like substance called a polyphenol.
