Herman B Wells-Memories of a Colleague

During Herman B Wells twenty five years as President of Indiana University and as Chancellor for several decades, he was perceived by the public as a man of vision, of tireless energy and great leadership as he pursued his quest to make Indiana University one of the best Universities in the world. This book is about the behind-the-scenes Herman B Wells, seen from the perspective of the author who spent seven years as his working colleague. Four of those seven years were during his last four years as President (1958-1962), and then his first three years as Chancellor (1962-1965). This book is not a biography, by any stretch of the imagination, but rather a collection of wonderful memories that help to tell the story of Herman B Wells -the everyday person, his relationship with his office colleagues, his sense of humor, his frustrations, his acts of caring, and above all his love for his students. In tribute to Herman B Wells, profits from this book will be distributed as scholarships to students of Brown County, Indiana who desire to matriculate at Indiana University.
