When He Is Come

A W Tozer's book "When He is come" (republished 1968) gives wonderful insights about the Holy Spirit, and Jesus' promise that "When He, the Spirit of Truth is come, he will guide you into all truth." It was originally published as "Ten Sermons on the Ministry of the Holy Spirit" and in this 1968 reprint is edited and compiled by Gerald Smith. As the back cover explains, A W Tozer was ahead of his time in comprehending the church's need for a renewal of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He recognized the priority of the Holy Spirit's work in every generation. When the church becomes void of the immediate ministry of the Holy Spirit, formality and institutionalism take over. Tozer saw the gifts of the Holy Spirit as still valid and offered some wholesome counsel as to their proper use.
