In one moment, the mission of Dr. Lewis Zirkle’s life became clear. The man he just met had laid in a hospital bed for three years because he did not have access to the orthopaedic implants needed to avoid disability. Meeting “the man in the bed” was the impetus for Dr. Zirkle’s mission to heal the injured poor through the hands of local surgeons.In We Walk the World, discover Dr. Zirkle’s extreme compassion, which will not let him rest while Vietnamese civilians are caught in the crossfire of war, or surgeons in South Sudan are operating without electricity, or grandmothers in Tanzania have to crawl through the mud because of improperly healed fractures.
