Описание
The Salviati Collection of Venetian glass was presented to Leland Stanford Junior Museum the end of the 19th Century. This collection encompasses virtually all the colours, styles and techniques marketed under the celebrated name and has been under wraps since the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. An introductory essay explores the art of Venitian glass blowing, a tradition that goes back more than 1000 years. This art, flourished during 15th, 16th & 17th Century but collapsed with the fall of the Venitian Republic in 1797. The revival of glassmaking was largely due to Antonioin Salviati, a lawyer. An energetic projmoter, he was soon exhibiting both mosaic and glass vessles abroad. Two hundred and forty five pieces are illustrated and described in this comprehensive publication.
