Description
Alan Olmstead had been the editor of the Manchester Evening Herald since 1941. He also in 1941 began to write a tri-weekly column for other Connecticut papers. The Connecticut Yankee - he still wrote this at the time this book was printed. He also wrote some pieces for the The New Yorker's "Talk of the Town." But just as he approached his sixty-fifth birthday a change of ownership at the paper made him decide he didn't want to continue working there. He didn't feel he wanted to look for full-time work again at sixty-five - and he decided to face retirement. As he faced it he began to write Threshold, which invites readers, in the most delightful and reassuring manner, to share his thoughts and feelings as he explores a new way of life.
