In this very simple DIY Stethoscope, we use a small plastic ball, some tubing, a wire and a balloon to create a remarkable stethoscope that clearly captures the sound of your heartbeat, and amplifies any sound that is received by the balloon membrane. Measure your pulse rate at different times of the day, or just after you’ve finished playing a rigorous game, or after having a long nap! And see if there are any differences. Is it easier to hear your friend’s heartbeat or your own? Bonus: Sound Oboe. Flatten one end of the given plastic straw and cut it in an inverted `V' shape. Place the cut end into your mouth and blow to create a wonderful constant sound; your very own oboe! You can cut the straw to varying lengths or make holes in the straw to change the frequency of the sound.
