Thinking Anew

This is a selection of writings from the author's fortnightly Irish Times column Thinking Anew over a ten-year period. They are written in everyday language for everyday people and take the reader behind the language and formalities of institutional religion to explore the issues they confront in ordinary life or that concern them in their private moments. They are written in the awareness that in recent years many religious people have struggled to hold onto their faith and some have failed. They are also written with people in mind who are spiritual but do not practice religion in any formal way. There is a strong pastoral element which is intended to connect with those for whom life is tough.
