Rich old gentleman Vernon Gray, has succeeded in involving young solictor Rosa Epton in his legal affairs. She is instructed to make him a will and has become an unwilling agent in finding him anew housekeeper. But not long after he has made his will Vernon vanishes, along with his current housekeeper, leaving behind puzzles and clues which will baffle the police - and Rosa too.
