Description
Geoffrey James Hurford was born in 1921 in Damerham, Hampshire, at a time when a 45-mile to the gallon brand new Rover 2-seater car could be bought for 230 guineas and the cinema was electrified by a new star in Rudolph Valentino. In his teens, he contracted osteomyelitis and spent several years in hospital undergoing traumatic operations. By the time he was 21, he finally made the decision to have his leg amputated. It is a heroic and entertaining true story of a tailor who, as he approaches his 81st year, carries on working from his Dickensian tiny front room in Salisbury.
