The Swing [first edition]

God and Satan are in league together and have written a play that never ends. The cast is the human race; starring are the duped players Early McNabb, an angel on the precipice; Joseph Ned, an atheist; and Father Batunis, an outcast Jesuit priest. Since time began, the play has run, but finally the curtain begins to fall when that evil, two-faced Satan tries to put one over on God. However, Satan blunders and his plan runs awry, bringing horrible consequences down on a small southern town: The yellow-eyed dogs, demons and fire. In the midst of this hell, Wiley Vanderbilt Post, a twelve-year-old, rewrites the play with love and logic and causes the downfall of the world’s accepted dogmas. From the mouths of babes, the truth can be heard.
