The Smurfs have always held our fancy from the time they first appeared on television, as cartoons or in movies. The game is yet another adaptation of the series where the little blue heroes set out against Gargamel who is always on the lookout for the next opportunity to nab the Smurfs. The innovative game is published by Ubisoft and comes with a PEGI rating of 7. In the main storyline, Smurfette starts to suffer from nightmares which show her betraying her fellow Smurfs and this unsettles her. Due to undue misunderstandings, she is led to believe that her presence in the Smurf’s Village is no longer welcome. Fearing the worst, Smurfette prepares to isolate herself from the rest of the village. Gargamel is the long-time enemy of the Smurfs who is always trying to capture them in order to drain them of their essence. The Smurf Essence is what gives him his magical powers and he needs to replenish his stock of the same before he runs out of it and loses his powers for good. He creates a set of naughty Smurfs to trap the real creatures and capture the whole village. The story then involves the player trying to thwart the efforts of the evil wizard and overcome all odds in an attempt to save the Smurfs. The game comes with an engaging single player campaign as well as a cooperative (local) multiplayer mode.
