Scott Fitzgerald (1896—1940) from such author’s collections as “Flappers and Philosophers”, “Tales of the Jazz Age”, “All the Sad Young Men” and “Taps at Reveille” are presented. The fate of the heroes of these works turns out in different ways. But describing the life of each of them the author asserts that: whatever the epoch a man lives in, the moral values remain invariable — domestic warmth, charity, sincerity, the ability of prizing everything one owns always prom ise every prospect of happiness. Whereas, false pride, arrogance, impertinence doom us to fruitless search for happy fate. У пропонованій збірці представлені кращі новели­ відомого американського письменника Ф. Скотта Фіц­дже­ральда (1896—1940) із таких автор­ських збірок: “Емансиповані й глибокодумні”, “Оповіді джазової доби”, “Усі ці сумні молоді люди”, “Відбій на зорі”. Доля героїв цих творів складається по-різному, але, описуючи життя кожного з них, автор наголошує: в яку б епоху не жила людина, моральні цінності залишаються не­змінними — родинне тепло, милосердя, щирість, уміння цінувати те, що маєш, зав­жди дають шанс на щастя. Натомість самолюбство, зарозумілість, нахабство прирікають нас на безплід­ні пошуки щасливої долі.[/html]
