They are written large in the grandeur of nature, in the joys of studying the Torah, and in the drama of history. This accounts for the introduction into the Prayer Book of the great nature Psalms which extol God as Creator, the lyrical hymns in praise of the Torah, and the ever reoccurring references to the great historic event of the liberation from Egyptian bondage. Our Prayer Book also include petitionary prayers. They voice our needs, and they ask for deliverance from the various afflictions that beset us in the world.
