Thorne Smith was an American writer of humorous supernatural fantasy fiction best known for his Topper novels, a comedy fantasy novel about a respectable banker called Cosmo Topper and his misadventures with a couple of ghosts. Smith published ten more novels during his life, trilogy), his most ambitious of which was Dream’s End (1927).
