The Monarch of Tall Pines Pool : An Adirondack Adventure

The Monarch of Tall Pines Pool is an exciting Adirondacks adventure story about a boy and his grandfather and their quest to hook a trophy brook trout. When not pursuing their elusive quarry, Jeff and Gramps meet loon, osprey, beaver, bear, and other interesting animals. Jeff’s fishing vacation includes camping, canoeing, and climbing in the Adirondack Mountains. Providing a vicarious getaway for the nature lover in us all, The Monarch of Tall Pines Pool will hopefully inspire readers to seek their own real-life adventures. This fish story can be considered “Fact-Fiction”: fact in that all events have been experienced by the author, fiction in that these experiences have been consolidated into a boy’s fishing adventure over a week-long spring vacation. Furthermore, the fabled bear “Two Toes” is an enlarged representative of bears the author has seen in the wild. Lastly, the story’s protagonist—a trophy brook trout—replaces a huge carp that resided in a neighborhood pond.
