   Description
This 104 page book is a collection of forty-seven poems written by Roald Hoffmann. The title "metamict state" is defined as "an unusual state of matter, amorphous because of the disruption of the crystal structure by radiation from contained or nearby radioactive atoms." Mr. Hoffmann, born in Poland, came to the U.S. in 1949 and began his studies in physics, chemical physics, and theoretical chemistry. In 1981 he won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Through the years, Hoffmann has maintained his interest in literature and began to write poetry several years ago. This collection covers a wide range of topics from science to hobbies and art, to traveling, seasons, and more.
