Directed by Edward Zwick and starring 3-time Golden Globe Award-winner Tom Cruise of Mission Impossible fame and Ken Watanabe (played the leading role in Letters from Iwo Jima), The Last Samurai is an action-drama war film. The mesmerizing music for this film was composed by Hans Zimmer (scored the music for epic films such as The Lion King and The Dark Knight). The Last Samurai tells the tale of an American military advisor named Nathan Algren who becomes a captive of the Samurai who teach him about their rich culture and ways. Soon, Algren finds himself torn between the two sides; should he support the Samurai or the Japanese monarchy, his former employers.
