The Islamic Impulse

This volume considers some of the most important issues which have affected politics in the Middle East in recent years. It focusses particularly on the renewed importance of Islam in the contemporary political process. It argues that fundamentalist revivalism has had considerable impact on notions of political legitimacy within the region. It also looks at the way in which Islam has assumed much greater importance in the legal process and more generally on the integration of Middle Eastern society.
