Quarto. 771 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in black cloth with an embossed gold foil seal on the front cover. The binding shows light to moderate rubbing and wear. There are a couple of scuff marks on the front cover near the top edge. Light foxing to the endpapers (map endpapers), and there is a spot of damping at the bottom of the front inner hinge. The text appears clean, and the text block is sound. Illustrated throughout with photos. Sampson County, just east of Fayetteville, is the second largest county in North Carolina by area, and yet is has a population of only 63,000. The County seat is the town of Clinton. It was founded in 1784.
