A biographical literary criticism and history of Eugene Field, who was known in the late 1800s and early 1900s as the Children's Poet and the Poet of Childhood, and how he came to write his best-loved poems, "Little Boy Blue," "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" (also called "The Dutch Lullaby"), and "The Duel" (also called "The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat"), which are also included in the text.
