   Description
This is a history of down downfall of King Behanzin of Dahomey. He financed his empire by raiding neighboring lands and taking captives that he either turned into slaves or slaughtered. He attacked French interests on the coast and provoked a war that ended his rule. This work covers the political discussions that produced the decision to go to war, the preparations for the war, and the operations of the French Army and Navy in prosecuting the war.
