The first three stories featuring Campbell's "Three Gadgeteers." Arcot, Wade and Morey are a trio of brilliant scientist-inventors with a thirst for adventure. Included we find "Piracy Preferred," the story of a sky pirate armed with superior weapons of his own invention is terrorizing the aircraft industry; "Solarite," first contact with an alien race dangerous enough to threaten the safety of two planets; and the title story, wherein a wandering, dying star with inhabited planets threatens our solar system.
