The collection spans the 1970's to 2000, the year of her death. She writes with a specific awareness always of her body: her experience of being fat, of aging, of being a woman. Her lyrical poems illumine the dark places of a mind that wrestled with identity issues, of being a working-class intellectual, a Catholic pagan lesbian, a mother, a daughter, an artist and a seeker of knowledge.
