This novel talks about the writer's childhood. "Ashab" is the child victim, who suffers injustice from those closest to him. They consider him stupid, so he submits because he does not want to disappoint them for fear of their reactions, until the last chapters of the novel, in which the author innovates, introducing Ashab's rebellion with a chapter entitled "The Storm of Leaves", which is a prelude to the word "no" that Ashab finally utters, shaking the family hierarchy and revealing an intimate collusion between him and his father, and a degree of love, wrapped in cruelty, that was hidden behind the father's frowning and always traveling personality.
