The New TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver’s face is deeper than a traditional 3-wood allowing for forgiveness off the tee and sports a shorter 3-wood shaft that promotes outstanding control. The SLDR Mini Driver's 260cc steel clubhead is roughly half the size of TaylorMade’s SLDR driver while it also looks and functions differently. It’s color scheme is essentially inverted from the SLDR driver. The SLDR Mini has a matte silver crown and a black sole, while the SLDR Driver has glossy charcoal-painted crown and a matte silver sole. Also, the SLDR S Mini is sans its bigger SDLR brother's sliding weight or adjustable hosel for simple predictability with respect to loft and launch. TaylorMade states the new SLDR Mini Driver is aimed at players who “often opt for the control and workability of a 3-wood off the tee,” and Justin Rose and Boo Weekley tested the club most recently at Doral. "We noticed that Tour pros and better amateurs hit their 3-wood off the tee a lot more frequently than from the fairway, so we embraced that insight and used our cutting edge metalwood technology to create a club that is designed for the tee, with a size that fits in between 3-wood and driver" says TaylorMade's Metalwood Product Creation Senior Director Brian Bazzel.
