Symbolism: An International Annual of Critical Aesthetics

In the fifth volume of this annual publication, 12 special focus articles explore various theoretical approaches to the cultural phenomenon of intertextuality. Editor Susana Onega (English literature, Zaragoza U., Spain) selected the contributors on the basis of their critical expertise on the subject and their ability to add new perspectives on a long-standing debate in literary criticism. Paper topics include the abuse of Victorian intertextuality in contemporary British fiction; intertextual lineages of the postmodern sublime; and baroque citations in the fiction of Peter Ackroyd and Jeanette Winterson. The volume also contains articles on general topics, such as the aesthetics of wellness and the betrayals of self-reference, and book reviews.
