Stealing Fire

As the twentieth century drew to a close, the Soviet Union dissolved and the Cold War ended. Few realized that many Russians viewed the end of their empire as the greatest mistake in human history. Years earlier, action had been taken that would reverse this error, restore Russia to its former glory, and destroy its greatest enemy--the United States of America. Wrapped up in a false narrative about the impact of the turn of the calendar from 1999 to 2000, America had become soft. With the USA blinded by the Y2K mirage, now was the time to strike. Russia believed any problems could be overcome by appealing to American greed. They underestimated American resolve. With the mysterious death of the CEO of a large telecommunications company, three men--Vietnam veteran John Ward, Korean veteran Sean Ward, and World War II veteran Jack Carpenter--are drawn together to fight a Russian plot to end American civilization.
