Starship Troopers Extermination is a sci-fi, co-op first-person shooter with elements of base building. The game was released in early access on May 17, 2023 for PC. It was developed and published by the Canadian studio Offworld Industries, known for several other FPS games such as Squad, Post Scriptum, and Beyond The Wire. Story Yes, the title seems very familiar to you because… it was inspired by the 1997 film "Starship Troopers" and belongs to the franchise. Similar to the cult classic film, the storyline of the game revolves around fighting hordes of space bugs. Interestingly, according to the canon, the events depicted in the game take place 30 years after the story we had the opportunity to witness in the film. In the game, we are sent to the mining planet Valaka where a human colony has been decimated by giant Arachnids. Therefore, we assume the role of a Deep Space Vanguard soldier of a Mobile Infantry Special Forces battalion, whose task is to defeat the enemy and reclaim the locations taken over by the bugs. Gameplay As a classic FPS, Starship Troopers Extermination offers players dynamic and exciting gameplay. In addition to fighting enemies, players are also tasked with capturing bases, rebuilding and fortifying them. After repairing the damage, it will be necessary to equip the captured facility with defensive walls, towers, turrets, and ammunition stations, making the base impregnable for the bugs - all while making rational use of the planet's resources available in the mines. At the start of the game, you can choose one of three available classes which best suits your play style and skills: Hunter (assault), Operator (support), or Bastion (defense). With the intuitive "Ping" system, you can communicate with team members to plan effective attacks, mark locations worth checking, call out enemies, and perform many other actions. As you progress through the game and your character develops, you will unlock new equipment, weapons, and perks necessary for your character's development. However, remember that the Arachnids are also getting more powerful! Each subsequent mission becomes more challenging, with larger and stronger waves of incoming enemies. Throughout the gameplay, you will encounter five types of space bugs: Drones, Warriors, Gunners, Plasma Grenadiers, and Tiger Elite.
