This is his firsthand account, detailing the operations of his spies operating in Confederate territory, as they foiled a plot to kill President-Elect Lincoln before he took office, broke up Rebel spy rings in Washington, Baltimore and Richmond, and obtained information on the Confederate military, including its secret submarine tests.
