Sociological Approaches to the New Testament

In this volume, Robert R. Wilson faces a current methodological question: How, and in what ways, can the social sciences aid Old Testament research? Wilson offers an overview of the history and role of sociology in Old Testament interpretation, followed by an evaluation of its uses and a discussion of the methodological problems involved in such inter-disciplinary studies. He then demonstrates some of the ways in which sociology can work with other approaches, contributing to the disciplines of exegesis and history.
