Sniper Ghost Warrior is a first person tactical shooter for various game consoles. The version here is for the PS3. The game is the first in a series of Sniper games that have been released for game consoles around the world. The game first released in 2010 for the Windows platform and came out on consoles in 2011. The whole game revolves around the story of a Military Sniper. The game gained popularity due to the shows featured on television like the Discovery Channel and History Channel. The extensive portrayal of Snipers around the world has garnered enough support for development of such games. Synopsis and Features As an ace marksman, you are inserted into the thick of the action with only your sniper rifle, some ammo and other supplies necessary to see you through to the end of the mission. You are sent into hostile environments in a bid to assist a group of rebels in a fictitious country called Isla Trueno. The rebels are at war with a group that toppled the free government in the country and seized power. The game does not have any single main protagonist for the player to control, but switches between a few characters as the missions progress. Even though there are no clear-cut protagonists, the main story in the game, revolves around a Sniper Unit which consists of members like Sergeant Tyler Wells, Private Anderson and even a Rebel by the name of El Tejon, which is his nickname for all the missions that he appears in. The unit is tasked with killing the general of the enemy forces which would put an end to the government coup that took place in the Latin American Country. Alpha Nine is the team that goes in for the job initially. Mistakes happen as every contingency could not be covered in the planning phase for the mission which leads to the capture of Agent Mike Rodriguez. Mike was tasked with setting up the shot for the Alpha Nine team. Due to Mike’s capture, the general manages to escape, placing Mike in a prison camp from where he had to be rescued. The missions in the game are well designed with the environments being beautifully rendered with an updated game engine. The game is published by City Interactive, and is designed for the PlayStation 3. The game consists of a highly detailed single player campaign that will take quite a few hours for you to complete. Once the campaign has been completed, you can continue to derive endless hours of fun with the game’s multiplayer mode, pitting your skills in stealth and accuracy against players from across the world. The game is designed keeping in mind the real world sniper teams in military service. The Sniper: Ghost Warrior game truly manages to impress with its crisp First Person Shooter interface, realistic sniper mission and requirement for stealth in order to stay hidden and pass by undetected. The game mechanics are true to life, which is clearly seen in missions where the player has to keep breathing and heartbeat under control in order to greatly improve accuracy. The bullet trajectory has to be carefully calculated after taking into account almost every detail. The wind speed, distance of the shot and intended target, weather conditions and even the position of the sun in order to avoid glint from shiny optics of the scope. The PS3 game has a PEGI rating of 16 for violence.
