Simmo: The Whole Truth
Описание
One of the finest speedway riders of his generation, Malcolm Simmons reveals the hard-hitting inside story on his glittering career what really went on behind the scenes at international and club level throughout his 30 years as both rider and team manager. A schoolboy grass-track star from Kent, 'Simmo' turned to speedway as a teenager in the early 60s and after an initial year with Hackney he became a star with fellow East Londoners West Ham before rising to England fame in the 70s with King's Lynn and Poole, where he still enjoys legendary status. Simmons, a supremely talented all round motorcyclist who represented his country more than 100 times, also served Wimbledon and Swindon with distinction before ending his racing days back at Hackney, where he also began a new career in management. Pipped for the world title by fellow countryman Peter Collins in 1976, English speedway's last golden era, 'Super Simmo' lifts the lid on all the sport's major personalities and controversies, including his own problems as co-promoter at King's Lynn.
