For an authentically dynamic flavour base! Unlike other bonito stocks, these granules have had an extra coating of bonito essence applied during the granulation process, allowing for a greater flavour and aroma. This stock is fabulous for use in soup dishes, noodle dishes or oden hot pots.
Dashi is essentially the Japanese equivalent of chicken or vegetable. It is used as a base liquid for noodle dishes, soups, stews, and other Japanese cuisine. Although normally made by stewing bonito fish flakes and kombu kelp seaweed, nowadays instant varieties such as this are more frequently used.
Dashi is the basis of all Japanese flavours:
Add 1g of dashi to 150ml of water for a miso soup base that serves 1.
Add 2g to 200ml of water for soup-based noodle dishes that serve 1.
Add 1g to 200ml of water for oden or other stewed dishes for 1 person.
