Rio(DVD English)

Rio (2011) is an animated comic film in 3D directed by Carlos Saldanha. Jesse Eisenberg, Leslie Mann, Anne Hathaway, Rodrigo Santoro, Will.I.Am, and Jemaine Clement provide voices for characters in the film. The film is set in Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian city and tells the story of Blu, a blue male macaw. He is transported to Rio de Janeiro, to mate with Jewel, another female blue macaw.Numerous birds native to Brazil are subject to smuggling. It is during one of these smugglings, that a young male blue macaw is discovered by a small girl after he falls out of the truck which was carrying him and many other birds. The girl, Linda, names her macaw Blu. Blu becomes a typical domestic bird and having no experience of the wild, is unable to fly due to which he is constantly ridiculed by other wild birds. One day Túlio Monteiro, an ornithologist, informs Linda of his plan to mate Blu, who is now the last male macaw alive, with another female macaw and asks them to come to Rio de Janeiro. In Rio, Blu meets Pedro, a red-crested cardinal, and Nico, a yellow canary. He also meets his mate, Jewel, a bird who desperately wants to be free.Blu and Jewel fall in love, but they are soon captured by Fernando and a cockatoo, named Nigel. Along with Marcel, they plan to leave the country and sell Blu and Jewel in the black market. However, Blu is an expert with cages and the blue macaws soon manage to free themselves and escape into the wilderness. Fernando who had become sympathetic towards the macaws decides to help Linda and Tulio look for the lost birds. Blu and Jewel meet Rafael who takes them to his friend, a bulldog who helps take off their chains. The macaws meet their friends Pedro and Nico again and together they try to teach Blu how to fly. Elsewhere, Nigel has not given up on the birds and assigns a group of marmosets to help him look for Blu and Jewel. While Linda and Tulio are looking for the birds, the macaws have a close encounter with the marmosets but manage to escape. Marcel decides to smuggle the birds during the Rio Carnival parade. Blu and Jewel have an argument and decide to part ways. Jewel is soon captured by Nigel. When Blu finds out about it, he hurries to the carnival with Rafael to save her. Linda and Tulio too have been organising their own plan to rescue the birds. However they are unable to stop the smugglers from capturing all the birds. With Jewel injured, the birds need to find a way out of this sticky situation.Rio is available on DVD. It has been released by 20th Century Fox and is rated U/A.
