Raccoon John Smith: A Novel Based on the Life of the Famous Pioneer Kentucky Preacher [first edition]

Author's Note Although told here as fiction, this is essentially a true story-the people lived; the events, indelible threads in the fabric of history. In a sense, Raccoon John Smith was not a great man, but he had greatness in him, symbolic of that greatness in the host of pioneer John Smiths who with Bible and ax and rifle cleared the wilderness and widened the pathway to the Eternal City so all Christians could travel it together. The hero, however, is not so much the man as the revelation that the love of God is more powerful than the fear of Him; the unity of His people the most important fact in time.
