BARSAAT :- An essay on love, For Gopal and Pran, two close friends, love meant two very different things. Gopal thought that it was like the wind, the waves, the clouds, always passing and never turning back. For Pran, it was unflinching devotion, a craving that consumes the soul. For one beauty and love are evanescent, they will fade. For the other it was immortal, it was sacrifice. The argument between them is decided by two simple village girls, Neelam and Reshma. Barsaat is a brilliant movie featuring two separate tales of love and loyalty. One ending in death, the other in happiness. AWARA :- A homage to Chaplin, Raj Kapoor's portrayal of a hapless tramp in Awara is condisered to be one of his finest performances. Judge Raghunath (brillianity played by Prithviraj Kapoor, R.K.'s real-life father) abandons his pregnant wife Leela, because he doubts the child's parentage. Leela was kidnapped by the dreaded dacoit Jagga (K. N. Singh) who had let her go un-molested. Though Leela tries hard to make her son, Raj, a lawyer like his father. Jagga's influence tries to lure him into a life of crime. Now on trial for attempted murder. Raj comes face-to-face with his father who happens to be the judge on his case. Raj falls in love with Rita (Nargis), a lawyer, who fights his case. Tragedy makes the father and son reconnect in a moving denouement. The movie is notable for its remarkable dream sequence and darkly surreal sets. SHREE 420 :- Shree 420 is about the corrosive effect of the bright lights of a big, bustling city on a simple soul. The film revolves around the life of Raj. Vidya and Maya. Raj (Raj Kapoor), a cheerful chaplinesque of the film, full of zest for the life ahead, saves vidya (Nargis) a school teacher from drawning and eventually falls in love with her. But when this simple man meets Maya (Nadira) a bombshell, honesty takes a backseat. JIS DESH MEIN GANGA BEHTI HAI :- A naive simpleton stumbles on the hide out of a group of dreaded bandits. He tries to persuade them to reform with his simple homilies and love. Probably one of Raj Kapoor's best films which like his earlier films dealt with social themes, with a touch of drama, operatic songs and grand gestures.
