Quest for the Dawn
Description
Quest for the Dawn is a penetrating and intimate portrait of two relentless inventors, Sakichi and Kiichiro Toyoda. Sakichi, ridiculed as a time-wasting young man, invented the poser loom nearly a century ago and perfected the automatic loom in the 1920s. The never-ending quest of the inventor was the primary legacy he left to his son, Kiichiro, founder of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works' "Automobile Department." Later, that department became Toyota Motor Company. Based on translations of personal diaries, memos, and other documents written by Sakichi, Kiichiro, and their contemporaries, Quest for the Dawn offers what is probably the most complete, open, and frank glimpse of the Japanese corporation's roots ever published.
