Purna Vidya: Sanatana Dharma Text Book

Purna Vidya is a twelve year program designed to provide a structured and developmentally based teaching of Vedic tradition and culture to children. It consists of teaching materials, assignments, lesson plans, and fun filled exercises. It is very comprehensive and includes a wide range of subject matter. The subject matter selected is based on the developmental and chronological age of a child such that the concepts are well within their grasp. Purna Vidya curriculum is used in several schools and communities in many countries. Sanatana Dharma Text Book is the ninth of twelve parts in the Purna Vidya series of books. This volume contains as its subject matter several essential topics that form the basis of Vedic tradition, philosophy and practice. It provides an birds eye view of the religious literature, and explains concepts such as purusharthas. The forty Samskaras are identified and the essential sixteen Samskaras or sacraments that are commonly performed in Vedic tradition to this day are explained. Many other unique aspects of Vedic tradition such as Avatara, Karma and Rebirth are also explained. The text book is accompanied by a separate book, ‘Guidelines for teaching Sanatana Dharma’ meant for adults to teach this text with a well defined syllabus plan which can be utilized in classroom, group or individual basis.
