The ballistic plate comes in 4 different sizes, and all are multi curved so they have the best possible comfort.The ballistic plates are all made in Monolithic SIC ceramic, which means that the strike face side (the front of the plate) consists of 1 large piece of ceramic, giving you the lightest but also strongest ceramic plate for NIJ level 4.In addition, this monolithic ceramic plate offers edge to edge ceramics, which means that the plate has a full ceramic surface where many “cheap” plates have a smaller ceramic front to save weight and make the plate look superior than it is.The ESAPI comes in 4 different sizes:Small: 9" x 12" (5.3 lbs) Medium: 10" x 13" (6.4 lbs) Large: 10.5" x 13.5" (7.1 lbs) X-large: 11" x 14" (8.2 lbs)An ESAPI ballistic plate is designed to perform well in extreme environments where it is either hot or very cold, making the ballistic ESAPI plate very popular amongst soldiers fighting in the middle-east.The ESAPI ballistic plate is designed to stop a single shot from 7.62x63 AP (.30-06 Springfield), which means this plate stops Armor piercing hits with a steel core. At the same time, the ESAPI plate will stop several hits from lower calibers, such as AK47, SS109/M855A1 and 7.62x51 NATO.The backing of the ESAPI plate uses a special Anti-Back Face Signature trauma liner, providing extra protection against the blunt force trauma, so impact causes less damage.The ballistic ESAPI plate comes with a protective layer of foam all around the plate, so it is protected from impacts and can withstand daily use.
