Many, many moons ago, I seem to recall attempting to make a gingerbread man from scratch we had a beautifully illustrated childrens book with a recipe for one . I remember my artist eye, though young, was unsatisfied that it didn't look like the pictures, not to mention it was a royal mess to clean up. Parents, I'm sure you understand. Your kids give you that look saying "oh please let us bake and decorate a gingerbread house! Please Please PLEASE?!" And the only thing running through your mind is the absurd amount of teeth rotting candy you'll need to obtain and the sheer amounts of flour and sugar that will end up everywhere but in the bowl.
