This book aims to clarify the role of the Gulf (the regions of Bahrain and Oman) in political and economic life between the fifth and seventh centuries AH, and the role of the emerging Arab emirates during that period. It also aims to shed light on the role of the Mongols and the Persian powers in political life, in addition to clarifying the economic role played by the regions of Bahrain and Oman during this period, especially in the commercial field. The first chapter covers the political conditions in the regions of Bahrain and Oman, especially the emergence of the Ibadi Imamate The third chapter discusses its role in preserving the identity of the people of the region and its prominent political role. It also examines the spread of Seljuk and then Fatimid influence in the region, and how the Fatimids spread the Ismaili faith among the people of Bahrain and Oman. It also examines the impact of the Crusades on the region and the relationship of the Persian Mongols with the regions of Oman and Bahrain. It also examines the Mamluks' attempts to extend their influence and their policies in the region. The second chapter discusses the Arab emirates that emerged in the regions of Bahrain and Oman as a result of the deterioration of the conditions of the third Ibadi Imamate, and played a major role in shaping political life during this period. The third and fourth chapters discuss the financial system and the most important financial resources, most notably what the people and rulers of the region earned from trade and other economic activities. The fifth and final chapter discusses commercial activity in the regions of Bahrain and Oman, discussing international trade routes and their stations, the internal and external trade markets, and the transit trade that characterized this region in the past and present.
