In an attempt to catch them in the act they send young agent Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) to infiltrate the gang and become one of their own in hopes to find out the truth. Johnny meets Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) and they soon become close friends, but as Johnny starts to enjoy the surfer life he soon strays from his mission objective and slowly becomes one of the gang.
