Personal Accounts of Events, Travels, and Everyday Life in America: An Annotated Bibliography (Winterthur Book)

For students of American domestic life, the Winterthur Museum's offerings are unique. In addition to primary research materials such as sketchbooks, design books, architectural drawings, advertising literature, fabric swatch books, greeting cards, business records, childrenpis toys, games, and paper dolls, there are also printed and handwritten materials. Winterthur Librarian E. Richard McKinstry describes 94 manuscript diaries dating from 1762 to 1938 in the Joseph Downs Collection of Manuscripts and Printed Ephemera and gives bibliographic citations for 406 printed travel accounts in their Printed Book and Periodical Collection.
