The Tsubame notebook is made in Tokyo for seven decades - it is truly an iconic fixture in Japan.
Each Tsubame notebook is made with "fools paper," a term used in Japan for a type of high-end paper that writes easily, does not bleed, and is neither slippery nor grainy; Tsubame's paper is also acid-free and joined with a durable thread binding for a product without peer. It is made only in spring and autumn when the water has the right quality (yes - really!). The rule lines are printed with water-based ink (see picture) and do not interfere with the tip of the writing instrument (oil-based lines are convex and your pen will ‘hop’ over it). The paper is free of fluorescent dyes, which reduces eye fatigue. The design is ideal for people who work or study at their desks for long hours.
