Within days they had discovered 'the most beautiful beach in the world' - Kuta Beach. Within weeks they had leased land fronting it and within four months they had opened the Kuta Beach Hotel. Soon after they fled Bali from the advancing Japanese invasion, Louise sat down and recorded their adventure, only to have her manuscript languish for nearly half a century before being rediscovered and published.
