He has given a lifetime of inspired and dedicated service to the state, both in and out of high public positions. He helped develop the two-party system in Arkansas by service in the state legislature, as a Republican candidate for Governor in 1936 and by the passage of Initiated Act 3 of 1948, which he wrote making fair elections possible.
