StoryThe storyline of Occupy Mars is not extensively developed and serves more as a background for the expansive gameplay. In summary: players assume the role of an astronaut who has arrived on Mars to carry out a significant mission. His task is to lay the foundations for a human colony on the Red Planet. However, this task is not easy, especially since (at least initially) most of the chores must be performed alone. Fortunately, the player has various advanced technological tools, machinery, and vehicles at his disposal. Gameplay & MechanicsGameplay is the core of Occupy Mars. The game is highly complex and combines mechanics such as survival, simulation, and building/crafting, presenting players with numerous challenges as well as possibilities. The most important challenge is the necessity to acquire, use, and manage resources skilfully, as the first task of our protagonist is to build a base.To accomplish this, the player must extract appropriate materials, obtain food and water, and create a system for generating electrical energy. Then, he must learn to manage each of these resources rationally and gradually expand the base step by step until it becomes a fully inhabited, self-sustaining complex. It is also essential to manage and control the resources “carried” by the player himself. Due to obvious reasons, a sudden lack of oxygen can quickly put an end to the fun.The open world allows for extensive exploration to discover the surroundings and gather resources. The realistic day and night cycle has a significant impact on the progression of various quests, as do the natural dangers lurking on the hostile planet.
