Never Cross a Vampire (Toby Peters Mystery)

PI Toby Peters is--as usual-- down on his luck in World War II era Hollywood, when his strangest case ever suddenly swoops in. It seems that someone is sending the mysterious master of the night, Bela Lugosi, threatening letters-- and a bat in a box with a stake through its heart. Boris Karloff asks Toby to take the case, and it's not long before Toby and Bela find themselves tangling with a demonically devoted group of vampire fans called the Dark Knights of Transylvania. Meanwhile, William Faulkner is being acused of killing a literary agent, after the murder weapon was found in his hotel room. Toby suddenly finds himself up to his neck in work. But could the two cases be connected? Figuring that one out could drive him batty, as a trail of clues leads him straight to Bedelia Sue Frye, a vivacious vixen who likes to make love dressed as a vampire!
