Initially created as an homage to the 19th century originator of the Ben-Day Dot process system of tonal screens Benjamin Henry Day Jr. this expanded collection brings digital versatility to several of the old forms, while updating with many contemporary graphic motifs and innovations through the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop seamless patterning. Sure, you'll find the classic dot and vertical and wavy lines, but tessellations, terrazzos and stars as well 44 different screen styles, each with 19 different densities 5% - 95% and multiple line counts. Use them large as striking graphic statements, or smaller as subtly textured tonal areas. Add Illustrator's and Photoshop's built-in modifications and you get an endless supply of lively effects and patterns for your creative arsenal. Several technical advancements have been included in these new designs, like preservation of defining shapes, enhanced scalability and 5% density increments. Unlike traditional screening patterns, many of these new versions maintain the look of their defining shapes in the darker screens by reversing them out of a solid field white shapes on solid backgrounds , anywhere a continued increase in density would have otherwise produced uncharacteristic blobs. When you want dots, you get dots in ALL values, not little white concave squares in tones over 60%. As vector postscript formats, all these patterns allow for clean and easy enlargement and reduction of details beyond the specific line counts included for each one. The density range has been doubled to add 5% increments between the usual 10% intervals, so you get 19 tones for every line count of every style. All are intelligently grouped as both single line count files as well as entire style packs, so you can easily locate and import only those patterns you need at the time.
